βMy city has a big outdoor theater/stage in a big park on a grassy lawn. They host free concerts, dance performances and theater throughout the year. You can reserve free stadium-type seats up close to the stage, but I prefer to bring a blanket and just stake out a good spot on the lawn. We pack a picnic dinner and just chill and enjoy the performance under the stars. We've seen Japanese string quartets, Indian dance troupes, Mariachi, ballet, symphony concerts and every July 4th the symphony plays while the fireworks go off overhead. Pretty good time and we don't have to spend a dime.β
βIt's been relegated to free local outdoor concerts where food and beverages are allowed. My town has free outdoor shows in the park on Fridays during the summer and you get that feel from the 60s and 70s, with people sitting in chairs or on the grass just chilling and vibing with the music. It's a nice, relaxed experience and I enjoy going to them.β
βOutdoor concerts are worth it to me because when the weather is perfect and cools as the night and crowd energy goes up itβs the best experience. Expecially for a band like Wilco where joints are being passed around indiscriminately.β
