βAfter the first month I got really, really homesick. I kept having dreams of giving up, cutting my trip short and returning home. I broke my finger surfboarding in Indonesia and had to go to the hospital and take care of myself in a foreign country without knowing the rules and how anything works and that's when I realized that I'm actually on the other side of the planet, alone. The world suddenly seemed alot bigger and scarier. Instead of calling quits and returning home I decided to chill for a bit, hang out somewhere with other bacpackers, not worrying about seeing every single sight or doing every cool activity possible. Made some friends with likeminded people and before I knew it my homesickness was gone. I felt more grounded and present. I was much more confident with myself and aware of my doings, that's when my journy truly began.β
β12 hours on an overnight bus? Sounds OK. 16 people in a dorm room? Fine by me. Dirty feet? Who cares! One bathroom shared by eight people? Weβll survive. Wearing the same T-shirt three days in one week? No one even noticed. Eating noodles seven days in a row? Yumβ¦ Sweating all day because of tropical temperatures? Means I am in some amazing warm countries! No, reallyβ¦ it is not as bad as it sounds! Humans are much more adaptable than you think. And comfort is overratedβ
