I saved by making a meal for a new mom using what we already had, rather than shopping for a completely different meal or ordering out a meal for them. I doubled our main dinner dish (made with marked down meat), added in some on sale veggies from our freezer, and made a dessert using a premade mix we had gotten on mark down. Added some rice to round out the meal. It cost me about $5. Then we delivered it as a family.

Of all the recipes on QK, my favorite recpe so far has been my Shepherd’s Pie. Oh, I know there are about a million recipes out there, but using only what I had in the pantry and refrigerator, I came up with my own. It’s super tasty and not too complicated to make. And if you do the potatoes at the same time the meat is cooking, you can get the entire meal on the table in about 40 minutes. Serve with a salad or sautéed greens and you have a complete meal.
