Clear space equals clear mind—tackle your desk, kitchen counter, or bedside table. Use the "one-minute rule": if something takes under a minute to put away, do it immediately. You'll be amazed how much mental energy clutter drains.

Last year when I started my minimalism, I started decluttering my desk first. It is still not in the desire stage yet as I am still sourcing for a new desk. But it was a huge change. Then I went on to declutter my office’s desk at the beginning of this year. The first thing I noticed was… it increased productivity! Having too many things means that you have to spend time looking for things. Therefore, you wasted time looking! If you do not have so much stuffs, you can easily find what you want and you know where things are kept.

by contrast my workspace at work would be flawlessly organized because it was only stuff i actually used and accessed frequently. so I realized one day....instead of fighting a losing battle against these little spaces that I couldn't keep organized...just get rid of the space to accumulate junk.
