Dive an underwater museum

adventurewater-sportsart
Explore submerged art installations that double as artificial reefs, where sculptures become living ecosystems over time. MUSA in Cancun and Molinere in Grenada feature life-size human figures now covered in coral growth. These underwater galleries combine artistic vision with marine conservation, creating surreal diving experiences.

βThe entire museum sits in about 25 feet of water, and we drop in first at a cross, which today is home to two playful French angelfish, which dart in and out of the opening in its center. After spending some time there, itβs on to The Dream Collector, a sculpture of a man at a desk, with his dog at his feet. Residing in shelves under the desk are dozens of sealed bottles, each containing real messages from Cancun residents. Next itβs a swim β be warned, the sculptures are a fair distance apart, so youβll get an underwater workout β to my dive buddyβs favorite statue, the Man on Fire.β
βOnce the tour began, the fact that I was suddenly scuba diving an underwater museum 8 meters underwater when I had zero experience that same morning made my mind race! Of course I was also trying to absorb all of the visual stimulation of fishes and art installation, and trying to take photos and video the entire time. It really took me a second to remember that I was still in a museum, and try to focus on each art piece.β
