Sip the fortified wine that originated in Jerez de la Frontera, ranging from bone-dry fino to sweet Pedro Ximénez. Visit traditional bodegas in Andalusia's sherry triangle to see the solera aging system in action. Pair different styles with tapas – dry manzanilla with seafood, rich oloroso with jamón ibérico.

We arrived in Jerez on a Sunday and stayed at a comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation booked through Booking. October wasn’t crowded with tourists, and the weather was fantastic. The city is compact, very walkable, and filled with beautiful architecture. I wish I had more time to explore, but of course, the main goal was to drink Sherry! The city is full of bars, particularly “tabancos” (Sherry bars), where a glass ranges from 1€ to 5€. The quality is usually great, though there are occasional misses.

That evening, we went to Tabanco El Pasaje for a flamenco show. Although it’s a popular tourist spot, the ambiance was great. We ordered a premium tapas set and enjoyed a house Amontillado that was so good we ordered another. The show itself was intense at first but very captivating.
