βThe valley is Switzerland without any gift shops and commerce. Its pure and raw nature. Me and my guide took a long walk and visited a local farmer who was hosting us for lunch. I had a dish prepared in yak cheese and chilies and potatoes and it was delicious. The potatoes were right out off the farm beside us.β
βAlthough I am not a spiritual person, the vibe was very magical and pulled me into the mysticism of Buddhism. The beautiful paintings on the walls of the monastery were different anecdotes fro Buddha's life. I might have spent a good 2 hours inside hearing to every story.β
βOnly nine pilots in the world are qualified to fly into Paro,β my guide, Sonam, tells me after weβve landed safely. It makes my arrival feel faintly miraculous, as if Iβve been granted access to a secret realm. Itβs a sensation that only grows, with each day I spend exploring the Land of the Thunder Dragon.β
