βIβll sum it up by saying this, my first marathon was the toughest physical challenge of my life and I was not prepared for all of the things that my body would do and feel during the race. [...] And then I was finally in the finishing chute and it was amazing. I dreamed about that moment during every single long run. Anytime I visualized crossing the finish and thought about how it would feel, I would get tears in my eyes and chills. Crossing the finish line was everything I dreamed it would be. I got this burst of energy in the last .25 miles and finished with a smile on my face.β
βIn one of the most emotional and exciting experiences of my life, I completed my first marathon. Throughout the race, my mind played a soundtrack that has become very familiar to me now: βI can do this. Thank you, Lord, for a heart that beats, lungs that breathe, eyes that see, and legs that turn. I can do this. Help me do this.β It was long, at times painful, and both mentally and physically taxing, but I loved every single second of it, from the easy comfortable first few miles to the gut wrenching, excruciating last six.β
βI didnβt spend a single second of this run concentrating on the actual process of running or breathing or speed and hadnβt run for 5weeks so I was really pleased with my time of 4:36 [...] butβ¦ jesus christ itβs extreme. Hats off to all those people who do a marathon each day of the week for 7 days, in fact, hats off to anyone who can do a marathon. Itβs the hardest thing you could imagine doingβ¦ but itβs possible for anyone.β
