Solo day trips are surprisingly liberating - you move at your own pace, follow your curiosity without compromise, and often end up having conversations with locals you'd miss in a group. Pick a nearby town, museum, or hiking trail and embrace the freedom to change plans on a whim.

The main thing I remember about the first day of my first ever solo trip was the feeling of relief… not that I ventured into a particularly dangerous city, I was just glad that I made it and that I didn’t want to cancel my trip right then and there. Before I booked my first ever solo trip, I always thought I’d need to suddenly become this super sociable person or learn how to deal with the awkwardness of doing certain things alone. But in reality, my solo trips have always been a mix of both allowing myself to grow in both directions and finding enjoyment in them. In the first 24 hours of my first ever solo trip, I introduced myself to one of my roommates, had a short chat with her before venturing out and browsing through the Lanes in Brighton and sitting down on the beach by the Brighton pier alone. And you know, what? For my first day, that was enough for me. I had a lovely chat with someone and found enjoyment in exploring a city without being distracted by friends or a partner.

Yesterday I got to experience my first ever solo day at Disney. My first thought is that the crowds were awesome. It felt like a ghost town compared to most of my previous visits. Rain was in the forecast but it only sprinkled for maybe an hour around 4pm? It was no big deal. I used MaxPass for most rides although I hardly needed to. I used single rider lines which was super efficient. I did not even wait 30 seconds to board Space Mnt through SRL. The day went by so quickly...and I pooped out much earlier than I thought I would. I was back at the hotel by 9pm I think. I’m so glad I got too do my fun little solo day trip. It felt slightly lonely here and there but mostly I just felt content and relaxed.
