Pick a theme like '1950s diner,' 'Mediterranean night,' or 'movie characters' and go all out with decorations, playlist, and menu. Ask guests to dress up and contribute themed dishes. The planning is half the fun, and themed constraints spark creativity in cooking and presentation.

โEarlier this week, I hosted a Galentine's dinner party in my home with 12 local (SF Bay Area) influencers: bloggers, photographers and business women. [...] I had so much fun decorating my home with red and pink tone colors. Although it was a valentine's themed dinner party, I didn't want to buy typical valentine decor you see at the stores. The trick to making it look more chic and unique is to keep the theme minimum and very subtle. [...] Because of my budget and lack of space, I opted for a floor seating type of setting. I used a long mirror I had in my home, placed it glass side down and covered it with a dusty rose colored table linen.โ
โJoran and I hosted a Time Travel themed dinner party the other night. The concept is simple: everyone dresses up in theme and brings a dish in theme. [...] It always amazes me how much you can create with simple means and imagination. I bought an old Atlas in a second hand shop, and glued a paper table cloth together from the pages, making a fun map (that on first glance seemed about right, but didnโt make any sense if you looked long enough.) For the occasion I built my very own one-second-time-machine from some old scrap and bits and pieces. I even added a buzzer and a LED.โ
