People who tried this

Ever since I started working at this place, whenever there would be a new employee, I would always be introduced to them by one of the older chefs, who had a brief idea of my 'shyness' as she put it, but this time was different. In an effort to try be more confident, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and began to approach the new barista. As I’m walking towards her, I begin forming a script in my head, to try and relax myself, but as she turns towards me, that mental script I had formed had completely disappeared, and it was too late to try back out. Here’s how the conversation went, word for word: Me: H-h-hey um, a-are you new working here? Barista: What? Me: Are you new working here?(makes 0 sense but that’s what I said in the moment) Barista: Oh, yeah I’m new. Me: Ah, w-what’s your name? Barista: Holly(fake name), what’s yours? Me: u/ctjongg, nice to meet you(extends hand) Barista: Nice to meet you too(shakes hand) At this point I’ve gone completely red [...] The conversation lasted seconds, but felt like YEARS. It gave off huge 'Have you ever had a dream' stutter vibes.
