So this is my first time ever knitting and wow was this a learning experience. [...] I very foolishly thought I could finish this with 10 days before Christmas and was very quickly humbled by how much longer it takes to knit something compared to crocheting.

Okay, I know this isn't that complex of a project, but it is th first significant woodworking project I've ever done by myself. I want to get into woodworking and decided what better first project than to build a workbench. I ended up gluing 16 2x4s together, planing along the way, cutting notches for the legs to rest in, then squaring up the sides with a circular saw. I spent way too much in new tools, and learned a lot along the way, including how to make pocket screw holes without a jig.
