Competitive golf demands not just technical skill but exceptional mental game management under pressure. Course management becomes as important as swing mechanics—knowing when to play conservatively versus aggressively separates good players from great ones. Regular lessons and extensive practice time on various courses are essential for reaching tournament-level play.

I was competitive national level athlete when I was young so I thought my first competitive golf tournament would be no big deal. I was so wrong. I was so pumped up and almost in an internal frenzy the entire day and never really settled down and blew up on many holes. Being pumped up is great for some sports but not so good for golf and I did not know how to channel it.

Us open qualifier. Was a +1. Had been playing for about 6 years. Broke 80 which bit was thrilled about. It was 39 degrees and 25mph winds with my wife on the bag. Was ultra nervous. But then saw a guy on the range in knickers who was shanking it so felt better. Spent the next year working on tournament feels. The next year I was probably too relaxed

Joined a men's league when I was a 15is handicap. So nervous I took a 10 on the 1st hole. Par 5; fairway, fairway, front bunker, back bunker, still in the back bunker, back fringe, 3 putt.
