I recently read "Pride and Prejudice" as well; I picked up the Spanish translation and used the free online English version on Project Gutenberg and online dictionaries to read it in both languages and it was honestly one of the most rewarding reading experiences of my life. It was the first time I read a book in Spanish and the translator did an amazing job of converting the idioms and cultural language points very well and I loved reading the English version at the same time; Jane Austin is a marvelous writer.

The first classic I read outside of school was Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and I really loved it! I decided I wanted to try to read more classics, so I did some research to try and find some that sounded like something I would enjoy. I saw that Slaughterhouse Five involved aliens and time travel and went "Oh yeah, this is the one." At the time I didn't have a library card, so I found a free PDF online and started there [...] I ended up liking it so much that I bought a copy, and I've reread it a couple times since then. I really don't know why it resonated as much as it did, but it's one of my favourite books now.
