Sway gently in a hammock while turquoise waters lap nearby and trade winds keep you cool under swaying palm trees. Whether it's Barbados, Jamaica, or the Bahamas, this is the art of doing absolutely nothing in paradise - bring a good book and let time dissolve into the rhythm of the waves.

β€œSo we started our walk along the beach to get to the flamingo hotel where these hammocks were located. As the hammocks were located just in front of the hotel but not exclusive for the guests it was free to use for all members of the public. The five hammocks were occupied when we arrived but after a few minutes one became available so I hopped in. A very luxurious Caribbean type of experience to be swinging in a hammock over Mexican waters with warm water lapping against you.”

β€œA little further southeast of Nipper’s is where I hung my hammock. You’ll see a 25 or so foot sand berm to your right, with a few trees in varying states of life still clinging to their foundations. I hung my hammock between – as one of my friends put it [...] – β€œClearly the only two trees you would trust your life to.” Bring a bug net and a sleeping bag, as the nights can be chilly and/or windy, and the flies and mosquitoes came out in vicious force pretty much as soon as the sun went down. I jerry rigged one over my hammock and hung my belongings from the trees in dry bags in case of morning dew.”
