โ€œElton John was my first live concert, Boston Garden, 1974. It was life changing. I'm from a huge family, lots of good friends but I had never experienced this kind of connection with anything or anyone. I had this weird feeling that he knew me, of course he did, he always knew how I felt. [...] Anyhow, when Elton started singing Sixty Years On, I lost it.โ€

โ€œI cried when I saw him in Phoenix last November. About a year and a half before that show my grandmother passed away and she was a huge fan. We played Your Song at her funeral and I couldnโ€™t listen to it for a while after. After a few months I was able to listen to it and hearing him play it live after all that time was incredibly moving. I cried through GBYBR as well as I knew it would probably be the last song Iโ€™ll ever hear him sing live.โ€

โ€œWe parked at an open lot about ten minutes away and nearly froze to death on the walk over โ€” the trade-off for avoiding the vehicle pileup near the venue. We made it inside before dying of frostbite and found our seats. After a short wait, with no opener, Elton came out wearing his signature loud sunglasses and a colorful suit. He half-joked that people had their tickets for like 700+ days because of COVID. He started with Benny and the Jets. Initially, he didnโ€™t sound particularly great, and I started worrying that we had made a terribly expensive mistake. Thankfully, he warmed up over the next couple of songs, which sounded better.โ€
