โ€œThis one probably sounds silly, but Easter Gnomes. It started with my niblings when we set out an egg hunt a little too early and squirrels got to them so we had to do some last minute improvising. Now every year there's a few broken eggs in each basket and a piece of candy with a bite out of it and a special elaborate note from the Gnomes who are naughty and after the Easter bunny left, took the Easter treats and hid them in extra hard to find places. None of the kids actually think the Easter bunny or the gnomes are real, but even at 8, 11, and 13 they still all get a kick out of it.โ€

โ€œWhen our children were little we started going to a farm to cut a Christmas tree down on Thanksgiving weekend. We have breakfast out and then head to the farm to find the perfect tree. We still do this with our kids and grandkids. We do breakfast with Santa at our local fire hall and spend a day at Sesame Place for Christmas on Sesame Street. Also, my sister makes each child in the family a dated Christmas tree ornament each year. Been doing some of these for 40 years.โ€
