Black and white photography strips away color distractions to focus on composition, lighting, and emotion - transforming ordinary scenes into timeless art. Learn to see shadows, textures, and contrast while mastering classic techniques from Ansel Adams to Henri Cartier-Bresson. Many courses include darkroom sessions for the full analog experience, though digital editing skills are equally valuable.

“I've taken Black and White Photography 1 and 2 (I've taken 2 twice which a lot of people do as you can skip the lectures and just go to the darkroom and the instructor and assistants will give you feedback and help with the printing which is very very helpful). [...] The ones I took were over several weeks but I think they also offer similar classes that are just on day or weekend.”
“Surprisingly enough my fairly rural small town school in the Bible belt offered a black and white photography class.I took it and fell in love with the process and I dabbled around a little bit after I graduated. [...] And having a darkroom setup has always been a goal in the back of my mind so I eventually Iooked around a bit and found a cheap enlarger and some other darkroom stuff on Facebook marketplace and have been using that to make my prints.”
