Beach and lake days offer instant relaxation and the chance to disconnect from screens while connecting with water and sunshine. Pack more food than you think you'll need, bring shade options, and plan for both active fun (swimming, frisbee) and lazy lounging time.

βWe were at the beach the whole day. The waves were absolutely massive, especially for Lake Michigan. We were told that they were βbigger than most were in recent years.β My brother, dad, and I all walked out into the water, which was surprisingly comfortable for seventy degrees. The first thing I immediately noticed was how strong the currents were underwater. It felt like the lake was trying to consume me. Even though I thought that the current was a bit strong, and maybe dangerous, we still headed out there together and jumped in the waves which were tall enough to go over our heads. It was so much fun, and quickly became one of my favorite things to do during that camping trip. Iβm really happy that we decided to take the risk because the payoff was well worth it. Although they were fun, the waves made me feel powerless in comparison.β
βI couldnβt get to the beach fast enough. As anyone from a region that has winter knows, itβs liberating to be able to peel off your layers and feel the warm breeze and sunlight on your pale, chapped skin. [...] The water was a gorgeous clear blue, and the beach itself is very clean. There is plenty of free parking, although Iβm sure it fills up fast. The parking lot was nearly deserted when we got there, but it was a βcoolβ 72 degrees that day, so it may have been a bit too chilly for Floridians/snow birds to be hitting the beach! The best part of this beach, though, is noticeable as soon as you set foot on it. The sand is 99% quartz, so it is extremely soft, like powder, and doesnβt absorb heat. I had a great time burying my feet in it and squishing it between my toes.β
