When I first took an online class, I found it somewhat frustrating,” Guar says. “I found I had to be extra disciplined to do the homework and keep up. Plus, even though online classes are supposed to be interactive, it can get boring taking a class all by yourself.

My worst online course was with someone only online once every two weeks. 100% readings. My best online course was with someone answering promptly, even with audio files. Feedback was given as comments directly in my Word document and via an audio file for an overall critique. We had a variety of small texts/videos/ PowerPoints with or without audio to learn the material. Each learning module included many feedback quizzes to put emphasis on key concepts.

When I first took an online course during the summer session, I thought that I would be overwhelmed trying to balance a fast pace course and a full time job. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had time to complete my coursework, work full time, and enjoy plenty of time with my friends and family.
