Use positive reinforcement and short, consistent training sessions to teach your pet something fun like 'shake hands' or 'roll over.' Dogs can learn amazing tricks, cats can master simple commands, and even birds can be taught to wave. The bonding time is just as valuable as the trick itself, and you'll both enjoy the mental stimulation.

โ€œRecently I saw a fun trick of dogs closing doors online, and thought why not. I introduced her to the concept for 5 min before I went to the gym last week. She picked it up really fast, without me using any treats as reinforcment. I did notice she chose to accompany the trick with screaming at the door as she slammed it. 'Oh well,' I think. 'We'll work on delicacy later'. When I came back from the gym a couple of hours later I noticed every door in the house was closed. Alright, maybe she really gets a kick out of this. She won't stop. She is constantly slamming doors, and yelling at them as she does. She absolutely LOVES closing doors.โ€

โ€œIt took two days for my dog to learn how to sit when we initially got him so I wasnโ€™t feeling hopeful teaching him even more commands. But!! Yesterday I noticed Courage would paw at my fist if I had a treat inside. So I started saying โ€œPaw!โ€ when he did that and then opening my hand to let him eat the treat. Then I started doing it with my palm open and the treat hidden in my other hand behind my back and he understood what I wanted on the first try! Now he gives me his paw on command and Iโ€™m so thrilled it was so easy for him!โ€
