So today was the day, and I was scared shitless. As we entered the first exhibit I could physically feel the muscles in my body begin to tighten, one by one, and the sweat begin to collect and roll off of my brow. “Okay, the smaller sized tank isn’t too bad. I’ll just keep my back to the wall, and move along passed it, no biggie.” [...] Riding on the coattails of my newly found optimism, we entered the next room: the glass tunnel that is completely surrounded by sea life, sharks included. “Nopenopenopenopenope...!” I stepped off to the side, closed my eyes, and took a nice deep breath. “I am not under water. I can breathe. The animals cannot touch me, and I cannot touch them. I am safe. I am safe. I am safe.” I then did something that I told myself I would never do in a million years [...] I took a few steps forward, and followed my mother into the tunnel. My legs felt like jelly, I was drenched with sweat, and my heart felt like it was going to try to make a run for it.....but I did it.

As I approached the building I was so excited. My heart was pumping with so much adrenaline. When I first walked in and turned the corner I immediately saw these beautiful fishes in this amazing dark blue water. I have never been to the Georgia Aquarium and I have lived here all my life. When I was there I felt like I was under the ocean. I was like a kid in a candy store. I kept saying “Wow and Oh my god”. What really strikes me about this place was the bottlenose dolphins. Those animals are extremely smart and their athleticism is amazing. They were so beautiful and very friendly. The way they were with the trainers was incredible. I could feel a sense of family while I was there.
