β€œIt was raining, sometimes just drizzling and at times pouring, when I took my day trip to Sintra a few months ago. Exploring Quinta in the rain was memorable in a great way and I'd love to go back... walking down the initiation well with water going down the middle, and in certain spots pooling at our feet, truly felt initiated.”

β€œMy mom and I were just there last week, and we did a day trip to sintra. We really enjoyed it! We particularly liked the moorish castle, even moreso than pena palace which for sure was very busy with tourists. We used Bolt to call a car from the city center in lisbon to sintra, which ended up being like 20 euros… super cheap for the ride! We took the train back at the end of the day which was really easy too. We just wanted to save time in the morning and hit all the sites we wanted to see. It ended up being a 9:30a-6p ish day for us to very leisurely go through pena palace, then moorish castle, quick snacks in old town for lunch, then finished w 3pm tickets at regailera castle (which mainly was the famous well you walk down).”

β€œWe went to Sintra on a weekday in October. I enjoyed the train ride and the walks in the parks at Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate, but if it had been any busier or hotter I would have been miserable. The parks would be lovely if you stumbled upon them, but I do think they are overhyped and just so shockingly crowded. Also, it all added up to an expensive day - for the time/money I might rather have explored some other area outside of Lisbon.”
