England's largest national park offers dramatic fells, pristine lakes, and charming villages that inspired Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Hike up Helvellyn or Scafell Pike for stunning views, take a steam boat across Windermere, or explore literary connections in Grasmere. The weather can change quickly, so come prepared for rain and wind even in summer.

β€œAfter a mammoth five hour journey from London, we were finally met with rolling hills and stone walls, no sooner than turning off the motorway. I was surprised at how quickly the landscape changed, and how close this magnificent area of beauty is situated to a busy road. As we continued to drive Lake Windermere came into view, and we were greeted with sunny blue skies and a lake full of sailing boats. It was a beautiful site! We stopped off and had our packed lunch, soaking up the views, pinching ourselves with the incredible weather.”

β€œI can’t describe the gorgeous views in the way , especially between Thirlmere and Grasmere on A591. So we did Lake Cruise at Windermere and went to aquarium at lakeside. Third day we went to Casterligg Stone circles which had a gorgeous backdrop, and hiked Catbells which took us like 3 hours all together . Man it was in some sections a very steep climb and I did slip twice. But it was worth it considering the views from the top of Newlands valley , Derwentwater and Ullock Pike .”

β€œFantastic first trip out in the lake district, very lucky with the weather for march! Shifted roughly 18km clockwise on the route then 8 or so the following day ticking off 8 or so wainwrights. Absolutely stunning scenery and found an awesome site to camp up in the clouds for the first proper test of my terra nova laser AS. Ran a bit of a risk with the sleep system only having an r value of 3.5/4 across my foam matt and airpad but put a foil blanket between them and was toasty all night in my ten year old 0Β°C bag (and a chunky down puffer).”
