“We didn’t get too far when I noticed some weird wiggling in the sand just up ahead. As I got closer I realized it was baby sea turtle hatchlings scuttling towards the water! I was amazed and I knew this was special. So I squat down, put my arm around my dog since she wanted to get closer and investigate but I just held her back since I didn’t want her messing with the babies. And I watched and admired the little guys, flapping away, trekking into the waves one by one, maybe like eight total? I should have made a point to count how many but I didn’t think of it at the time.”
