Rediscover your inner child while building upper body strength and spatial awareness by ascending sturdy trees with proper climbing technique. Look for trees with strong, horizontal branches and rough bark for grip, starting with lower branches and testing each step. The unique perspective from above reveals bird nests, insect activity, and landscape views impossible from ground level, plus the pure joy of conquering gravity.

โIโve never climbed a tree before. I have it on my list of things to do (Plus More), but Iโve been nervous about this prospect for a while. [...] So I clambered up to the first branching out at the trunk. I stood, perfectly still, realising, Iโm on a tree! And stepped up to the next branch, and the next. Leaning against snow-covered branches, I looked around me and delighted in my perch. The world was a little different from where I sat, but not by much. It was almost disappointing. But even though it wasnโt as exhilarating or life-changing as Iโd hoped, I was sitting where Iโd never imagined Iโd sit, and that was something. Iโd done something I secretly thought was never going to happen for me, and even though this wasnโt what I expected โ it is a very low tree โ sometimes, it really is that easy.โ
โTheir ladder was literally buried in boxes in the garage so they were going to start digging it out. I looked at the tree and it occurred to me that I'm no longer the fat and weak version of me and I could probably get up there. No problem! Pulled myself right up and got all the way up to the broken branch and got it down. I'm almost 40 years old and I just climbed a tree! What a great day!!โ
