βSo I just had my first open decks DJ gig last night (2/16/23) and honestly it went way better than I thought. I was the opener for the night and there were maybe like 5-10 people in the venue during that time, but this was my first time experiencing a live audience and also using different equipment. I was nervous and excited coming into this event [...] I had like 2-3 people on the dancefloor going hard with me and that made me feel good. I even had the DJ right after me approach and ask "what song was that you just played?" and that was one of the best compliments I could have gotten as a DJ. I messed up a few times in the first 5-10 minutes because of new equipment, but my nerves went away as soon as I pressed play on the first song. It was like I unlocked my 3rd eye for the first time and I've gained a whole new level of confidence when it comes to DJing.β
βThe club was hot with no aircon and everyone pulled up in suits and dresses. Started my set nice and easy to get people into the vibe but they complained they wanted hardcore dance music right away so I went with it and they enjoyed themselves a bunch [...] Slowly slowly I notice that the club gets emptier and emptier so the vibe is getting killed and even with the bomb music selection I throw at them Iβm just playing for about 7 people dancing and a handful of people just sitting on the couches on the side (feels horrible and humiliating) [...] people kept approaching me asking to change the style( back and forth and back and forth ) Also people kept giving song requests for song I just didnβt have [...] At some point itβs just me and 3 people in the club and Iβm just like fuck it Iβm out , I left the club early at about 12:30 ,humiliated [...] Iβve performed publicly as an artist before and in auditions in front of major record labels in the past but I have never been this embarrassed and humiliated before.β
