Visit a working distillery to sample spirits where they're made, often with tours explaining the production process. Many distilleries offer tastings paired with food or special releases you can't find elsewhere. Book ahead as popular distilleries fill up quickly, especially on weekends.

βOh Whiskey Thief, how I loved closing out our Bourbon Trail adventures with you. This is the ultimate party spot to kick off or end a day on the Trail. We purchased the βtourβ which really was the experiential tasting via the whiskey thieves which are handled by the staff, other than those who opt to purchase a bottle and fill themselves. The 5 barrels were all 112-118 proof so they were quite strong but the vibe was entirely chill with water coolers around and complimentary pretzels. The tasting glasses were ours to keep as well - nice. Our only regrets were not being able to spend a couple hours relaxing here outside overlooking the serene grounds [...] This visit was really about the relaxed atmosphere and unique experience, and would definitely be recommended for large groups or those looking for a break from the same ole at the traditional stops.β
βWe accidentally skipped coffee this morning so we were thrilled to see Willet had a coffee bar. I ordered a simple drip coffee with a shot of Baileys and thought this was some of the best coffee Iβve ever had. Very cool tasting experience as itβs structured as a progressive tasting throughout the tour rather than doing the flight at the end in the tasting room as all other tours were structured. This experience was also unique in that each tasting spot allowed for the guests to select between 2-4 different bottles which our guide explained before he poured. Because of this we could finish drinking all of our pours. Another nice surprise was that we got to keep the tasting glass as a souvenir.β
