Hit the trails or mud pits with a capable 4WD vehicle for an adrenaline rush that'll leave you covered in dirt and grinning. Start with easier trails to learn your vehicle's limits, and always bring recovery gear - getting stuck is half the fun, but getting unstuck is a valuable skill.

βThe Hellβs Revenge trail immediately throws you right into some intense off-roading, as your vehicle heads up an extremely narrow and bumpy fin with steep drop offs on either side. It feels like your car could tip off the trail at any moment and tumble down to the red rocks below. After those first intense minutes on the trail got my adrenaline pumping, I realized that off-roading was more fun and freeing then I could've ever imagined. The best way I can describe the rest of the 6.5 mile long trail is as nature's rollercoaster. Itβs extremely narrow at times, and filled with sharp turns, steep climbs and abrupt descents.β
βThe timing of our excursion was perfect. A rainstorm had just passed through the area, leaving spots of mud in its wake. Ryan directed me to a nearby stretch of land where I could have some fun in his rig. He was brutally honest about how beat up it was and how many of its features didnβt work, but I didnβt careβI was thrilled to be driving a Land Rover in its natural environment [...] I didnβt realize the front windows were down until I bombed through a puddle and sent a spray of mud into various parts of the cabin.β
βOur off-road group took on all sorts of terrain. What started as a relatively gentle gravel mountain trail quickly devolved into a muddy mess, full of huge rocks to power up and over. As we headed up the mountain face there were really steep climbs, and a fair amount of steering wheel clenching twists, bucks, and dips along the way, too. Along the trickier parts of the route, weβd stop, make sure we were in correct gears and drive modes, then proceed again.β
