βRiding is like being a king or queen for that time on the float. It really has spoiled me as I just don't enjoy going to parades as a spectator near as much as I used to. I mean I still have fun with friends etc but I couldn't care less about catching stuff. Our parade, Okeanos, loads everything for you on the float (at least what you buy through the parade) and you can go to the den the day before to start unpacking, but most do it when the buses bring us to the staging area. I don't pay attention to signs, I tend to throw to people in the back, kids, and older folks sitting way back.β
βAs a rider, our krewe has a minimum buy in for throws, and itβs not inexpensive, I save all year to participate, but that buy in does assure that youβre throwing the entire route. As a thrower, I like to make eye contact, do the double finger eye point - like βitβs you and meβ- hand motion and then throw.β
