β€œIn the end it only took me a week and a half to two weeks to find the constellations and the brighter stars in the summer evening sky. Because I was a night-owl at the time I was also able to cover the fall constellations and eventually the early winter constellations without having to brave the cold. Finding the constellations now is like driving someplace far away. At first you need a map (planisphere), but as you drive the route enough you can use landmarks (bright stars) and street signs (known constellations) as your guide. The only thing that still throws me is spotting a constellation that I first learned when it was in the eastern sky and it has progressed to the western sky and is thus upside-down to me now.”

β€œThe night skies at Bryce Canyon are some of the darkest in the country, and that night the viewing was phenomenal. It was the first time I ever saw the constellation Scorpius. I think that’s also where I learned about Cygnus, the swan constellation also known as the Northern Cross. [...] Still, it’s an easily identifiable pattern in the night sky, and I love looking up and being able to give a name to what I see.”
