“Well, I finally reached out and asked if I could talk to someone about the cost of equipment rental and lesson fees, and the person who replied told me there's no need to rent or pay them anything—just show up during their public hours and they'd teach me on the bows they have! I got out to the range last Saturday, and the coolest 88-year-old man (who's been teaching archery for 70+ years) welcomed me and got straight to teaching. Holy cow. Apparently I lucked out. This legend has taught multiple national champions in traditional archery (recurve bow and long bow). He was the coolest. After wrapping up my first lesson, he asked me to come back at the same time in a week, and of course I was already planning on it. I'm absolutely hooked.”
