βI started teaching myself how to sew in late 2019, so itβs been just over three years since I first touched a sewing machine. Although itβs a relatively short amount of time, it was an intense three years, packed with experimenting, failing, researching, and always learning. Because I am completely self- and community-taught, I made a lot of mistakes at the beginning.β
βBefore attempting my first sewing project, I wondered, What could a middle-aged mom do to learn something it felt like she should already know? Sign her ten-year-old daughter up for lessons, of course! And then eavesdrop and ask endless questions.β
βEventually, she got more pieces from my trial and error, more accurately, toileβing and error. A toile is a fancy Sewerβs word for practice. And what Iβve learned the most from all this practice is patience. A terrific life skill!β
