“When I first started riding the skateboard, I thought it was pretty easy, but then I slipped, my skateboard was in the drain, and I fell right on my butt! I decided to quickly get up and walk away as if nothing happened because it was so embarrassing, and I thought to call it a day. After I got up, it hurt so bad, but then I picked up my skateboard and started from square one. I found my courage again; I was riding it better than ever.”
“From the tutorials I’ve been watching online they really make a big deal of practicing the individual steps. So I started with popping the skateboard a few times and scraping my shoe. When I started the real thing I found it difficult to get my foot to scrape. I was keeping it flat on the board. A couple of times I ended up jumping to the other side of the board, with my front foot on the nose. I didn’t manage to pull it off this time but for many people it takes a while, a week if you’re lucky. I didn’t finish today without pulling off one trick though! [...] I was really nervous trying it. I think I shall tighten my trucks, I noticed that I was swaying a lot while popping.”
“Well anyway, I started off by slowly working my way up to the full length. After a few times I thought ‘fuck it’ and started from the top! There were two turns before I could reach the bottom. I managed the first turn, speed increasing, and then the second I really felt I had to lean. Then it happened. Speed…wobble! My heart rate increased as I considered the consequences. But I managed to stable it, hence why I am able to submit this blog entry.”
