Skateboarding

Master the art of balance, momentum, and style while rolling on four wheels, starting with basic pushing and turning before progressing to ollies, kickflips, and grinding. Skateboarding builds core strength, spatial awareness, and persistence as you practice the same trick hundreds of times until muscle memory kicks in. Find local skate parks or smooth pavement, and don't be discouraged by falls—they're part of the learning process.

Oh what a difference it makes from skating on a sidewalk to actually skating on a flat smooth surface Balboa Skate Park had to offer! I barely had to push off and I was flying! (Well, at least in my mind I felt like I was going fast!) I went flying towards a wall and attempted to do a fakie. I fell. Hard. On my right side. I survived of course. I even sat back up laughing.

One thing I didn't realize is how intensive skateboarding can be. I honestly thought it would be easier (fitness wise) but just trying to keep balance is a workout on its own. I've spent an hour or more each day just moving along and practicing ollies and by the end of it, I'm drenched it sweat and I love it.
