βThe next day we snuck in another scuba dive, hiked to Phi Phiβs highest view point, and had dinner on the beach. We were going to call it an early night, but Phi Phi doesnβt work like that. The music was getting louder and we could see the fire shows sparking up down the shore. Joining ranks with an awesome Aussie couple at the next table, we decided to βjust check it out for a minute.β Four hours later we were still dancing on the beach in a self-made dance circle, where in a tipsy state (yes, we had a bucket) we tried to convince every passerby to join in. We hammer-timed with an Argentine, waltzed with an Austrian, and shook it down with people from around the globe under the light of the stars and the fires shows.β
βAfter dinner, we walked to an outdoor bar that had lounge cushions on the sand. We got drinks while loud music pumped around us. I told Harry not to fall asleep again (he fell asleep at the bar the night before). We danced around and then I sat on a cushion. I watched people walk by on the beach, dance on the sand at our bar and bars next to us, and couples enjoying each otherβs company. Phi Phi island is definitely a party island. It felt like a place where French and Germans got to escape their winter β sort of like Cancun for Americans on spring break. I was enjoying the night, but the cushion was so comfortable that I fell asleep! When I woke up, and we left the bar, Harry pointed out that I was the one who fell asleep this time. He said, βTypical American. Tell others not to do it and then do it yourself.β Oops.β
