Play golf at Old Course St. Andrews

“I couldn't have been luckier weather-wise. Maybe 5C with no rain except some light mist on the last 3 holes. And zero wind. I asked the caddie how common that is and he said they maybe get 7 windless days a year. My strategy going in was to avoid the big trouble. For the most part I did, but I did hit two ugly bunkers that are hell to get out of. On the 11th the caddie said "whatever you do, don't hit it into that bunker on the left." I went straight into it. [...] One of the biggest things was the nerves. Standing on the first tee of the Old Course with rented clubs did not strike me with a whole lot of confidence. Honestly, the first 3 or 4 holes were poor just because of that nervous energy. But once I settled down I played well and had a ton of fun.”

“After catching the shuttle back, I checked in at the Old Pavilion and met the group I'd be playing with. Our caddies met us on the way to the first tee. The Old Course was a lot of fun. Very open, not a lot of trouble, but with plenty of character. Again, having a caddie was a huge help here. I got the classic Scottish experience during this round, it was quite windy and we got a good bit of rain over the middle holes of the course. This reminds me, BRING RAIN GEAR.”
