โWhen I started reading business, management and finance books, I'd keep a notebook nearby and if they spoke about something that really resonated with me I'd make a note of it and include my own thoughts about it or where I'd observed that in my own life. Or if they mention something interesting that I want to find out more about I'd note it down for research later. If I was reading about something that was directly related to what I was working on, or in, I'd try to apply it as quickly as possible by either teaching someone else about it or using it in a project or something because the best way to learn and retain is through application and "testing" the new knowledge.โ
โThe Charisma Myth by Olivia Cabane This was more on the sales and people skills side of things. I could always sell, but was always mentally distracted (I think I have mild adhd). Reading this book helped me focus in on the emotions of other people and what they might be going through - personal and business lives. There are a lot of gimmick mental exercises in there - but once I started applying these exercises and realised the mistakes I was making - it was a complete game changer for my career.โ
โRide of a Lifetime from Bob Iger. Made me realise that starting your own business is not needed, that moving up the corporate ladder is also exciting but with its challenges. It made me commit a lot more to my work and understand what matters to my career goals. It's a small book so I think it is worth the shot..โ
