โ100% yes! I did this about 1 year ago. I rented a "intermediate car" from avis and ended up with a jeep compass. We took the top off a couple of times driving locally in Kihei and it was amazing. [...] I ended that rental and rented a convertible for the last day (booked b4 the trip), since I only wanted it for the RTH. The night before I went to Avis and switched out my car. Our convertible was a grey Camaro, but good enough. We woke up early and started the RTH. The weather wasnt very good so we kept the top on. Having a sports car was acctually way better for all the tight turns rather than a bigger car. After arriving to Hana and checking in to our Air Bnb we dropped the top and drove to Waimuku Falls and around Hana for the rest of the day, and it was an Amazing experience. On the way back to the airport we drove all the way back with the top off and had amazing videos. I am 100% happy I decided to get the convertible.โ
โI did the convertible Mustang thing for my 40th birthday, rented it in San Fran and drove the Pacific Coast Highway down to LA, then back up through Yosemite and wine country. Awesome trip. We had the top up probably 85%, and then you're dealing with the extra road noise of a convertible. Having the top down for long periods of time is...not for everybody. I'd really, really think on that.โ
