Head to Costa Rica's rainforests or the Amazon to spot these famously slow-moving creatures in their natural habitat. Early morning or late afternoon offer the best chances of seeing three-toed sloths hanging motionless in cecropia trees, moving so slowly that algae grows on their fur for perfect camouflage.

โ€œI had actually been in Costa Rica for several months and was disappointed that I hadn't seen a sloth. Of course, I just didn't know where to look! Last week, I was walking through campus and saw two people looking up at a tree. And there was a sloth! I then headed back a few days later to get this time lapse video. This was taken at 10x time...so over 5 minutes of recording! Which also means it is a little jerky, which is unavoidable, as I was craning upwards to get this. Also the 7 seconds when the sloth looks up and around is a minute of real time.โ€
