βSo after taking a million photos of some rusty metal we jump back in the 4x4s and head for the salt flats. First up weβre dropped off in a section at the edge thatβs just over ankle deep in water (rainy season). So, the thongs are off and Iβm splashing through this salty water feeling like Iβm in heaven. [...] Our crew setup lunch on a little salt island and we sit down to enjoy some food surrounded by pure white in every direction. SURREAL!β
βWe told him that it was indescribably beautiful. Then we told him that we traveled unpaved roads in the Land Cruiser for 32 hours during four days, inhaled our lifetime adult dosage of dust, got sick from the food, endured the driest of all possible nasal passages, and spent one night on the poorest excuse for a bed I have laid on in my life. This not a trip for the faint of heart. But, it is a trip of a lifetime.β
βWe finally reached the salt flats which were covered by shallow water and therefore great for taking reflection photos (as you can see below). Besides the brilliant whiteness of the flats, whatβs so impressive is their sheer size. We drove for hours and all you could see was brilliant white and blue sky. How the driver navigated where he was going I have no idea.β
