People who tried this

When I was in the second grade I spent a year with my grandparents. It was the happiest year of my life. One day, just for fun, I sent a message in a bottle. I wrote of how I was being held captive and I included a few identifying facts. Again, I was 7-8 years old and truly didn’t think anyone would ever find it. I threw it in the fjord, thinking it would make its way to the great oceans, get lost, and finally sink. The bottle left my mind the second it left my hand. I have no idea of how much time passed, but it can’t have been more than a couple of weeks. One of my great aunt’s coworkers told them about this message in a bottle she found and how worried she was about this child clearly in need of rescue. My aunt told her she knew the kid in question and told my grandparents. My grandparents told me, that what I did was very serious, and that messages in a bottle weren’t just movie plots.
