“Four Seasons collects you from Bora Bora airport in a private launch. The ride to the resort takes approximately 20 minutes, and it is during this transfer that the reality of where you are begins to fully register. The water shifts from deep ocean blue to pale turquoise as you cross the lagoon. Mount Otemanu grows larger with every minute. Manta rays glide beneath the surface. And then the resort appears - a scattering of thatched-roof bungalows perched on stilts above water so clear you can see the sandy bottom twelve feet below. This is when I cried.
