📍 Bahamas🔄 Repeatable👤 All ages

Join friendly swimming pigs at Big Major Cay who eagerly paddle out to boats for treats and photo ops. Book a day tour from Nassau or Exuma that includes snorkeling and beach time on uninhabited islands. These surprisingly good swimmers have become internet famous, but the experience of hand-feeding them in crystal-clear waters is genuinely magical.

“Ended up being bitten by one. Wasn’t even feeding…just one decided my finger was food while walking up to me and bit and latched on. Had to pull it off and had a pretty good bite mark. Staff basically sent me away and back to ship asap (they didn’t want anything to do with me at that point -they could barely even find a bandaid…one told me to wash it in the ocean water 🤦♂️ ) Saw doctor on ship and they cleaned it since it was looking nasty and bloody. But they didn’t have any other treatments on board. Ended up having to go to urgent care, bite was infected. Got a good dosage of antibiotics, tetanus, and also getting 4 doses of rabies over the next 2 weeks.”
“Eh. I did Rose Island. No horror stories like mentioned here, pigs were cute and staff is good about scooping pig poop so that really isn’t a big deal. Pigs are kept in a pen out of sight, you go get in the water with some skewered apples to feed them, then the pigs come run out to get their treats. After they eat, they’re shuttled back to their pen and you…. hang out at the “beach” for a while with a small bar. It’s a pretty underwhelming experience imo—online reviews are pretty consistent with this. My advice would be spend the money elsewhere but if it’s one of those “have to see for myself” things, you won’t NOT enjoy it. Just a meh experience to me. Good photo op with some large pigs that are friendly and just want to eat their treats.”
