β€œLeaning out of the doorway, I watch in awe as the train carriages curve around bends like a graceful snake sliding through the hills. Thanks to the metal handles on the outside of the doorways, its surprisingly not as scary as it seems to hang out. In fact, with the warm air whipping against you, it feels incredibly liberating.”

β€œOne minute we’re crawling between steep banks, then it suddenly opens up into huge caverns and sweeping vistas of rolling hills. As we pass roaring waterfalls, the train slows to almost a standstill so we can lean out to look and take pictures.”

β€œThis looked much more beautiful in person. I had to point the camera upward at one of the windows in the roof of the train car because the cliffs are that high above the train tracks. [...] The river flows even in winter, and it cuts a groove into the rocky mountain terrain (there’s a reason it’s called the β€˜Rocky’ Mountains). Incidently, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen the Colorado River. I enjoyed watching the soaring cliffs, frosted with snow, and seeing the rocks change from grey to brown to red to white.”
