Experience the satisfaction of harvesting your own food at local pick-your-own farms, where you can gather everything from strawberries to pumpkins depending on the season. The produce is incredibly fresh, often cheaper than stores, and many farms offer additional activities like hayrides or farm tours. It's a perfect way to connect with where your food comes from.

βThe fun thing is that when they say Pick Your Own they really mean it, as you are provided with a wheelbarrow, bags, boxes and a spade and sent to trundle through the surrounding fields and bushes, digging up and collecting the produce to your hearts content. It canβt get any fresher than actually pulling your own carrots and beetroot directly out the ground! The intensity of carrot flavour is a just picked carrot is unbelievable! The sun was shining as all three generations of our family chatted while lifting the leaves of the strawberry plants, hunting out the plump red fruits hidden underneath, sampling the odd one just to check their ripeness.β
βWe definitely spent a ton of time at the petting zoo (blog post coming soon) and afterwards, we went through the fields and picked ourselves some berries. Well Shay did most of the picking and I just photographed him doing all the work, haha. It was brutally hot but so much fun. [...] You just pick up an empty box when you walk in, wander about and pick your fruit and then go back to the register at the end of your trip, weigh your goodies and pay. We ended up picking a whole box of blackberries and the whole thing cost us a dollar! It was so much more fun doing that and seeing where your fruit is coming from rather than spending three or four dollars at the local grocery store.β
