βI (18m) have just made a short film for my college media class, I had a hard time coming up with an idea, so I made a short film about a writer with writers block and I made the mistake of making it an homage to Lynch, this is my first ACTUAL short film I wrote directed and acted in and itβs awful Not only did I forget to include important shots my script was terrible, pretentious and void of any actual meaning and I have truly disappointed myself as I sunk my own (limited) funds into this and Iβve not seen a more genuinely terrible piece of trash in my life, should I just admit itβs not for me and look for a trade? Iβve learned a lot from the experience of making it but it was truly that terrible that Iβm not sure its worth continuing It was stressful handling my actors I used my friends because Iβm poor and I agreed to be in theirs, it took 3 weeks to actually film from my original filming date for a multitude of reasons and I have had a hard time sleeping since I shot itβ
βMy name is Miguel Lopez de Leon, and I direct, act, write, produce and edit my own films. To date, Iβve made 21 films. Three of those films are my feature films WALK SILENT, BELLOW, and REACHING AWAKE. The other 18 films are short films. I got into directing out of necessity. I was in preproduction for my first short film WAIT. I was having a difficult time getting a group of people together who were all available on the same dates. Eventually, I just decided to do the whole thing myself, and figured it would be a great learning opportunity. Now, even after making twenty-one films, Iβm still doing things the same way, and I love every minute of it! Itβs a lot of workβnot only to direct and act in a film. But to also be the writer, producer and editor. But I really do enjoy it!β
