βLosing your Fashion Week virginity is basically more stressful than losing your actual virginity because you have to wear clothes. Working in the same building as LFW HQ, Iβve seen the crowds that gather and the ensuing photoshoots documenting Londonβs most style-savvy [...] and I. Was. Scared. As it turns out, though, all the fuss outside is typically kept outside; most people attending fashion week are doing so for work (buyers, journalists etc.), and will often attend a couple of dozen shows in a day [...] There are definitely some lewks, but nothing quite as extreme as I expected.β
βI was very nervous when I went to the first fashion show, and I was a little confused as to where to sit because it was unclear whether the seats were assigned. I was also nervous because in my hurry to get ready after class I forgot to bring my SD card for my camera. I did bring my boyfriend with me, though, who helped me to feel less nervous at my first official press event, and eventually (after being kicked out of where we were sitting, because there were in fact assigned seats) I started to have a good time during the fashion show. I ended up taking pictures with my phone camera instead.β
βOur daily schedules were filled to the brim with exciting shows and networking events. Up at 6 am, back to bed by 5 am. Whoever said βthis city never sleepsβ was probably a fashion reporter. My head was spinning, but it felt so fulfilling at the same time. Adrenaline was the fuel if not the motto. Seeing these fantastically executed shows and meeting fascinating characters kept me wanting more, more, more. And New York Fashion Week kept on giving.β
