Join a regular group that reads and discusses books together, whether it's literary fiction, mysteries, or non-fiction. Most clubs meet monthly and provide great motivation to actually finish books you've been meaning to read. The diverse perspectives and lively debates often reveal layers in books you'd miss reading alone.

“It was so much fun, guys. Think about it. When you finish a book you like a lot, what’s the first thing you want to do? Talk about it with someone! Talk about the characters and the stories, and if there were any twists in the plot, and do you think so-and-so survived? And what about this that didn’t make any sense? Were you confused, too? What did you think about that scene? On and on. One of the most fun parts is no matter how prepared I came into the book club with notes, once you’re batting around thoughts and ideas with other human beings, it makes you think about additional ideas you previously didn’t have and/or a new way of looking at the books. It’s a freakin’ thrill to discuss a book you love with someone else! And importantly, joining the Paired Book Club encouraged me to read two books I ended up loving I wouldn’t have otherwise read on my own.”
“I went to a book club at a library and met some awesome people. 6 of us formed a friendship and actually started our own smaller book club. It has been a wonderful experience! All of my past book clubs have just been with friends who have very different taste than me and the meetings all became about socializing. Meeting people specifically through books and starting a book club where we really dive into the books has been really fulfilling and pushed me as a reader.”
“I joined a mystery book club at my local library. That was the first time I've had what I considered a 'typical book club' experience. There were four other women, a facilitator from the library who just guided the conversation... everyone read the book. That was all we talked about. It was a very specific gathering. Everyone also decided together the next book to read. It was wonderful! I was also the youngest person present by at least 30 years. :)”
