βYes, I did have to bleach my entire head of hair. I was very scared for this process as Iβd never done it before, but it truly wasnβt as big of a deal as I thought it would be! Aside from the random itch here and there, I didnβt feel the bleach when it was in my hair. When I rinsed it out, I was really worried that my hair was going to fall out, but I only saw a few strands go down the drain which is normal for me when I wash my hair anyways. After the bleaching, my hair was definitely a little drier than it was before, but it wasnβt super damaged or crunchy.β
βThe second time I dyed my hair blue, I was startled by how many stares I got. There was a certain afternoon, shortly after Iβd turned my hair an aquatic blend of Manic Panicβs Blue Moon and Enchanted Forest, that I walked down Houston and found that nearly every person I passed lifted their eyes to meet mine. At least, it felt like that. Most likely they were focused on my hairline, but in motion you can willfully mistake it for an effort to make eye contact.β
βBefore dying my hair blue for the first time, my stylist bleached my whole head. She also added a little bit of purple to the blue dye. But even so, after the blue started to fade a bit, parts of it began turning green. Not a bad green β more like a teal or turquoise green, which gave my hair a mermaid look (which was cool). But I learned that yellow is apparently a very strong color. Even with the bleach and the purple, there was still enough yellow in my hair to turn some of the blue to green.β
